For The Love of The Lake

Part One

My family is very excited to be entering the final stages of construction for the lake house. It has definitely been a dream of my parents for some time now. I thought it would be fun to show you from start to finish. Now, for anyone who has built from the ground up, you know how fast things can get out of hand. It is a running joke with my entire family and even some of our friends how this one bedroom/garage for the boat turned into a three bedroom/three bath with a game room and a front porch that any southerner would happily sit and drink sweet tea on all day.

I am literally going to start this series from the ground up :)

These are the MASSIVE rocks that were dug up out of the ground. I couldn't believe it when I saw the thousands of pictures my parents brought home. You would think that maybe two pictures of these rocks would cover it, but it actually takes many many more than that to get the full picture :)

This is where I started getting really confused about what the end product was going to look like. My dad and our builder are standing on what would soon be the garage or in his words "his room." The other slab of concrete is where the house is now.

This is a view of the breezeway between the garage and second story of the house. This space turned into a hallway that we deemed "the tunnel." The tunnel leads to the game room above the garage.

Here is my mom is holding on for dear life :)

Finally! It's looking like a house! It has come so far since these pictures were taken. Next up in the series is the outside paint color, the divine porch being poured, and a look inside.

Wicker Re-Do

I saw this photo in the new issue of Better Homes and Gardens magazine and knew I had to do something about my wicker chair that sits in the corner collecting dust bunnies.

Here is what I am starting with...

I was thinking something bright like the teal shown in the picture or maybe a soft neutral that I can accessorize with whatever I'm loving at the moment. Any ideas?
